What We Check in a Medical Eye Exam
Our medical eye evaluations check more than a routine eye wellness examination. Your eye doctor will inspect for any preliminary signs of ocular disease. If you are diagnosed with an eye disease, such as macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy, we will help manage and treat your problem. If you suffer from symptoms associated with many common eye conditions, such as redness, soreness, or dry and itchy eyes, we can offer solutions to alleviate your discomfort. There’s no need to suffer, we’re here to help keep your eyesight healthy! Our office is located conveniently to serve Sugar Land, TX, and the Greater Houston region.
Vision insurance vs. medical health insurance
It is important to be aware that vision insurance is not the same as medical health insurance. When you have vision insurance coverage, it resembles a discount plan. Routine wellness eye examinations and visual acuity testing is generally covered. This includes the diagnosis of typical vision conditions, such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), the inability to read at a close distance (presbyopia) and astigmatism. Vision insurance also generally provides benefits to defray the costs of eyeglasses and contact lenses. However, medical eye health assessments are not included in the insurance plans. In contrast, medical health insurance usually covers the expenses of our comprehensive medical eye exams.
